Thor’s Hammer: The warship awaits. The warrior king and his men sit in a half-circle around the village’s blind storyteller. The king removes Thor’s pendant from his neck and hands it to the storyteller.
“Tell us of Thor, son of Odin, and his battle so that my men may find courage,” the king says.

The storyteller grasps the pendant and closes his eyes. “I see it all again and will tell it as it happened. Thor, son of Odin, sailed these seas with his men. Their ship reached the open ocean, and the waves rose as high as great thingstones. Suddenly, the sky calmed, as did the sea and its waves. The water was like freshly blown glass.

Then, all at once, the ocean boiled, the sun darkened, and from the depths of the sea emerged the Midgard Serpent, a great beast that coiled its massive body around the ship. The men, fearless, gripped their swords—but the bravest among them was Thor, who seized his hammer, Mjolnir.

As he took hold of his weapon, Thor shouted words of power, and suddenly the sky darkened, lightning flashed in every direction, and all the forces of heaven and storm were his to command. With the might of thunder, Thor struck the serpent down and fashioned armor for his men from its hide.
